Pleading Template

The sample pleading that we showed in the previous screen is geneated from a template which can be reused for any case:

Rather than discussing this template, we will work with the generic template from which all other templates are derived:

The differences between the 132a pleading template and the generic template are:

  • The pleading title
  • The pleading text

 

Pleading Title

The pleading title is shown in the pleading header:

The title is setup by replacing the text in the generic pleading field:

[#'test heading'@=Title@#]

to the proper text:

[#'132a Pleading'@=Title@#]

 

Pleading Text

The text of the pleading replaces the .. TEXT in the generic pleading.

 

Setting up the Line 28 format

The template was turned into a Line 28 document by clicking on the Ruled button:

None

Reset the document to not have rules and numbering.

Plain

Set the document to display rules and numbering. No other changes are done to the document.

Courier - Narrow

Set the document to use Courier 12pt font and leave spacing between the rules and the body. The margings and spacing are automatically set.

Courier - Wide

Set the document to use Courier 12pt font and leave no spacing between the rules and the body. The margings and spacing are automatically set.

Times New Roman - Narrow

Set the document to use Times New Roman 12pt font and leave spacing between the rules and the body. The margings and spacing are automatically set.

Times New Roman - Wide

Set the document to use Times New Roman 12pt font and leave no spacing between the rules and the body. The margings and spacing are automatically set.

 

How margins and spacing are set

When selected, the margins are set to:

  • Top - 0.73"
  • Bottom - 0.85"
  • Left (Narrow) - 1"
  • Left (Wide) - 0.75"
  • Right (Narrow) - 0.75"
  • Right (Wide) - 0.5"

Spacing is set to Exactly 12.1pt to properly align the lines with their corresponding entriles in the rule.

 

Double spacing the body

Any text that needs to be double spaced shoud be selected and the select the Format and then the Paragraph from the main menu:

This displays the spacing menu:

Set the spacing to Exactly 24.2pt.
