Installing the Server

The eCandidus™ Server installs like any MS Windows program:

Please read and accept the licensing agreement to proceed:

And click on the Install button to install:

The installer will carry out the process:

And let you know when it has completed:

Once you have installed the server you need to configure it. This may vary according to the version of MS Windows that you have installed, but it normally done by clicking on the Start button and the selecting Administrative Tools and then IIS Manager.

Once you have launched the IIS Manager, you will see a screen that looks like this:

Open up the tree on the left hand side until you get to eCandidusService and then click on Application Settings in the center panel. You will get a screen like this:

Double click on the SQL_Server entry and enter the server setting from the SQL Studio login page:

Click on OK to save:

Repeat for each line until your settings look like:

NOTE: Capitalization is important in these settings!


Testing the installation

Open your Internet Browser. And go to http://localhost/eCandidusService/DB.asmx. The following screen should appear:


Creating the External Directory

eCandidus™ Desktop uses a shared directory in your server to store third-party files. This directory is called the external directory.

Create a directory in your server and then right mouse click and select Share with and then Specific People

Start by entering Everyone as the party with whom you want to share the directory and click on Add:

Next click on the permissions and change them from Read to Read/Write:

Then click on the Share button:

Which will produce a confirmation screen:

Note the share name, as you will be using it in the eCandidus™ Desktop setup.
