The eCandidus™ Webtop makes your eCandidus™ Server into a Web 2.0 Server, allowing you to access your data using any browser without having to install any software before using.

The following items are not operational at this time:
  • Merge - Documents and Forms
  • Calendar - Appointment Rescheduling
  • Billing - Input


Accessing the eCandidus™ Webtop

The eCandidus™ Webtop is accessed as you would any other web page. In your browser enter:


to load the Webtop. Note that the Webtop is written in JavaScript which must be enabled in your browser.



The login screen is displayed. You can use the same login name and password as you do in the eCandidus™ Desktop. Click on the Login button to proceed.

Note that when the Webtop is busy getting information from the server, an animated image is displayed at the upper right corner of the screen.


The Menu

The webtop menu allows you to navigate the system. The menu is divided into two main sections, the dataset selection column and the tools column.


Working with data

The dataset menus work exactly like the eCandidus™ Desktop:

You can double-click on any entry to view the entry. You can also page through the listing using the navigation tools in the lower left side of the screen. You can also type a selection in the Search entry to quickly search the list:

Once you have selected an entry, doucle-click on it to display:

We have tried to visually duplicate eCandidus™ Desktop in the Webtop, as you can see on the screen above. There are somethings that do behave different:

  • Double-click to zoom in: This functionality has been replaced by clicking on the button next to each entry.
  • Combo boxes: Once you have made a selection, you need to blank it out to re-display the drop down list.

You can view attachments just as you would in the eCandidus™ Desktop. You can also allow new attachments to be added by setting up the Upload option.

These are the same as their eCandidus™ Desktop counterparts.




Webtop Only Associates

You can create Associates that can only use eCandidus™ using the Webtop. This allows for special security measures.


User Extensions

Any changes that you make to screens using User Extensions are automatically carried over to the Webtop. Note that as any eCandidus™ Desktop user, changes take place when the Associate logs in after the changes have been saved.



The Workflow features of eCandidus™ are available in the Webtop, with the exception that the Workflow will run in a non-UI mode. This means that any activity that would display a screen will not show the screen.



Using the Workflow Review activity and a limited Webtop-only Associates, you can create a system where external parties can login to the Webtop and carry out processes for your office. Once the activity is completed, the review screen will be displayed in the Webtop allowing for the feedback required for the workflow.
