There are occasions when the server has been "locked down" and the 127.0.0.1 address does not work. In those occassions you will have to use the address of the server as provided by your IT staff. The ExternalDirectory entry tells the Webtop where the ExternalDirectory setting of eCandidus™ Desktop is located. Lets take a simple example first.
ExternalDirectory on the Desktop is set to "S:\DOCS" and "S:" is mapped to the server directory "C:\SHARED", Webtop is running on the server - In this case the ExternalDirectory should be set to "C:\SHARED\DOCS".

If the ExternalDirectory is left blank, the Webtop users will not be able to download any attachments.
Normally the associates are not allowed to upload attachments, however by setting this option to Y uploads will be allowed.
